Our mission at Bursch is to create an environment that fosters safe practices and academic success. Our goal is to empower students to achieve to their fullest potential and develop college bound character. As a member of the No Excuse University Network of Elite Schools, we focus on college awareness and on excelling learning through the implementation of common core standards based instruction, 21st Century skill development, and positive behavior intervention and support strategies. Teachers will provide rigorous learning experiences and work to meet the diverse needs of students.
Bursch teachers have opportunities to participate in professional development opportunities to increase their knowledge and learn new strategies. They will actively collaborate to design instructional lessons, common assessments, and intervention and enrichment lessons following the NEU exceptional systems and Professional Learning Community practices.
Chrome books are available to students in the classroom as well as a computer lab to enhance students’ 21st Century skills, support Accelerated Reader, and i-Ready. Implementation of Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) will ensure students are taught desired behavior and acknowledged for it using a ticket system. Students will be provided lessons on bullying and developing positive peer relationships, resulting in a safe environment where students are excited to come to school every day.
At Bursch, parents are integral members of our team working with staff to ensure student success. As partners, we can maximize student potential and support the district mission of “Ensure high achievement for ALL learners.”
I look forward to another wonderful year together!
